As we have done many times in the past, especially during the dark days of the lockdown, post the nightly email update from Governor Cuomo. This evening is his farewell email as he resigns amidst scandal. Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul will become governor of NY State at 12am.
Periodically we post the nightly email from New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Tonight's email is especially interesting. It lays out a few guidelines for the re-opening of New York after 400 days of being the hardest hit state in the country with COVID-19. New low stats. New "Vax & Scratch" program. Pop up vaccination sites at major NY airports. Summer festival mask guidance.

This action maps the clusters by density of cases.
The FDA has approved the Yale University School of Public Health "spit test." This is a quick saliva test. Spit into a tube and 5 minutes later a result is shown. It has 90%-95% accuracy. About the same as the nasal swab test. The NBA, MLB and major league soccer have been using this test on thousands of players and staff. This is the kind of test that could be rolled out as a home kit the world over.
Governor Andrew Cuomo releases his evening email to New Yorkers. The state of NY is fairing quite well with record number of testing showing dropping number of cases.
There is much debate about the wearing of #face#masks. Much debate about what type should be worn and how each mask protects the wearer and those around you. How #droplets get caught inside the mask and how the mask can block droplets from getting in. Scientists all agree something is better than nothing, even a bandana. In this article from the Wall Street Journal, #WSJ, a very non biased look at what to wear and how it should be worn for best protection practices.
In the past we have posted the coronavirus update from Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York. Each evening the Governor sends out an email detailing the current situation in New York State. In tonight's email the governor is allowing ice cream and liquor now to be manufactured in NY State to help out the dairy farmers. On the flip side 100s of liquor licenses have been suspended of bars not keeping social distancing rules.
A long 5 months has gone by, from winter to spring and now summer. New York City, the hardest hit by the virus in the nation, is now scheduled to open Phase 4 this Monday July 20, 2020. Even so, gyms and movie theaters are not on the reopening list and no one knows when they will come back online.
