A long 5 months has gone by, from winter to spring and now summer. New York City, the hardest hit by the virus in the nation, is now scheduled to open Phase 4 this Monday July 20, 2020. Even so, gyms and movie theaters are not on the reopening list and no one knows when they will come back online.
When traveling overseas and returning to the USA the airlines hand out US Customs & Border Protection documents that need to be filled out upon re-entering the USA. Now, if you fly into any NY airport documents will be handed out and be filled in by passengers arriving in NY about where they came from and where are they going to with current contact information. If the paperwork is not handed in before leaving the airport it's an immediate $2000 fine. This is to be sure people arriving from hot spots quarantine 14 days upon arrival.
As the headline states there may be a possible 208,000 more deaths from Covid-19 by November here in the USA. Most interesting is that if 95% of the public would wear a face mask properly and at the proper time that number drops by 45,000.
New York City is expected to enter Phase 3 of reopening on Monday, July 6, but due to concerns about the risk of spreading the virus, indoor dining in NYC will be postponed. As we see states across the country that have opted to reopen indoor dining experience upticks in the infection rate, we want to make sure the same thing doesn't happen in New York. And at this point, we can't rely on citizen compliance or local enforcement alone to manage the risk. The safest option is to postpone indoor dining in NYC.
New York is now experiencing its lowest cases and hospitalizations of COVID-19 patients yet. Phase 3 will start in Manhattan in the beginning of July and the rest of most of the sate with begin Phase 4. Unfortunately, other states are dealing with hot spots and record cases since the virus began. NY is now in a position to help and the Governor of NY is making it known.
Today New York reaches a milestone in the battle of COVID-19. For the first time hospitalizations have fallen below 1000 cases. Still a lot of people.
